Petite Suite

My work is a diverse discovery of gesture, space and memory. By using my dance background and fascinations with historical arts and culture, I am interested in exploring the embodiment of character through illusionary, theatrical imagery. “Petite Suite” is a series of constructed realities that seek out to converse with a displaced self in one’s most desired spaces. By exploring the ways in which historical narratives can be created through miniature paper sets, I am navigating ideas of memory construction and their relationship to the physical and temporal impermanence of historical imagery. Elements of the stage and material manipulation seep through the images, revealing the painful and romanticized facades of such places.
