CHROMA

Within CHROMA, I create vulnerable and performative nude self-portraits. As a therapeutic tool, the camera allows me to process and repair the inner turmoil created from waves of depression, disruption, anxiety, confusion, tightness, and feelings of non-contentment with school and family life. I highlight the human shape, not to sexualize but to empower and embrace it as something organic and authentic, similar to my emotions. My form is in twisted, body-straining positions with clashing, pulsating colors that reflect my state of mind and cause jarring sensations. I further the turbulent alternate realities by adding neon, visceral, and intense edits to distort my vibrant mind-churning images, radiating my chaotic consciousness. CHROMA has the positive effect of highlighting the importance of mental health and creating an environment that normalizes how everyone has their own struggles.
