Recordando el Alma

A reconstruction of childhood memories from when his family was in the religion Umbanda, “Recordando el Alma” is a visual archive of impactful moments from this time of his life. Focusing on recalling memory and the blending of reality with the intangible, he creates a conversation between his inner-child and spirituality. Where he is from or who he is, is not the essence of his work. What drives his practice is the connection with his childhood imagination and need to demystify memories — moments which couldn’t be materialized without the use of a camera. Moving further beyond a literal documentation of the religion, the archive explores the concepts he was experiencing as a child when it felt like everyone was made of the same energy, reflections of each other, not bound to their own individual physicality.
