heirlooms and objects sit in the periphery of my memories, the only constant within the degrading images in my mind. my objects watched as the lessons i grew to learn: the ones taught by those in my family with hopes of keeping me from making any mistake.
my objects drip with memories of a kind of “self-discovery”. memories held in time probing me to remember to live with the expectations of others resting beside their gifts and goods.
using iterative processing, still lives, stream of consciousness sketching, acrylic medium transfers, alternative processing, and video archive projection, I work to peel the layers of memories off my objects to reveal the versions of me that lie beneath.
