Leo Pichardo
As a storyteller I create atmospheres that are rich with delirium and dreamlike spaces. For me the nature of my films isn’t rooted in realism but the emotional memory of the characters. I reach out and listen and in this task of relating to others I strive to feel empathy for what I don’t understand, and that translates into the flaws and nuances of the characters I create. For me to understand a character should be as complicated as trying to understand a person, it’s stepping into a world that’s different from our own and finding the space to play.
