When Flies Sit Still
When Flies Sit Still is a collection of photographs that celebrate idiosyncratic people and lifestyles I encountered on the road across America. Coming from an estranged family, I use photography and the open road to search for what I’ve always longed for: a sense of home. First introduced to these subjects by close friends, I was granted trust and understanding; allowing me to be a part of these spaces on a deeper level than just a photographer, but as a friend and part of the family. I aim to provide a perspective of these individuals that is lighthearted- not burdened by the American dream, but rather content with simple freedoms at a time when nothing is simple. Not only is When Flies Sit Still an exploration into rural American life, but also a direct reflection of my closest friendships, and the belongingness I found through these communities.
