“Correre ad occhi chiusi (Running with your eyes closed)” explores the dynamics of traumatic memories tied to a car crash from my younger years. Focusing on their fragmented nature and modes of memory within daily life, the film emphasizes the extent of their relativity to factual events. Able to feel memory’s gaps more than I am able to remember the crash, I place myself in front of the camera, as a reminder that the separation between who I am and who I was is only housed within the parameters of time, which the body obeys, but the soul does not.
Born in Florence, Italy, Amanda Buschmann is a visual artist and producer based in New York City. Story-driven, her lens-based work explores the poetics of her inner world and its relationship to time.
