James Lynch
“The Bends” is an ongoing series of photographs taken throughout 2023 and 2024 in New York City. Drawing on visual cues from neo-noir cinema and candid photography, the project consists of open-ended narrative tableaux that walk the line between excitement and danger in a limitless urban environment. The images explore the temptation to live life at a frenetic pace, and the consequences of rapidly cycling between high- and low- pressure environments.
James Lynch is a photographer and filmmaker based in Manhattan. His work explores themes of irony, surrealism, and the accelerated pace of life in the Information Age.
