Laila Ines Liokouras
“(The woods are lovely, dark and deep)” is a series of seductive, austere black-and-white photographs exploring wilderness living and metamorphosis. The elegant woods suggest a tale of temptation, the weight of obligations, and the road ahead, where lingering risks drifting into a timeless sleep beneath the snow’s embrace. This project aims to capture the essence of a transformative sojourn, blending personal experience with literary analysis to weave a narrative that transcends the physical journey itself—forever entwined with the forest’s allure.
Laila Ines Liokouras is a Danish-born artist raised in Indonesia. Her work is inspired by wilderness, escapism, and community amidst isolation.
