Maddy Mario

Mantra of Duality is a mixed-media videographic exploration of professional BMX rider Joris Coulomb.
This work serves as a vehicle for my interpretation of the BMX subculture, considering the sport as a form of artistic expression and meditative exercise while also reflecting on the concept of “Krishna consciousness” through Coulomb’s practice. Particularly resonant is the story of the warrior Arjuna, whose dedication and skill as an archer reflects Joris’s physical, mental, and spiritual commitment to BMX.

Based in New York City and Miami, Maddy Mario is a lens-based artist whose work in photography and film examines various countercultures.
