Makayla Rose Thomas

In this unconventional self-portrait, I use moving images to narrate my lived experiences in the Bronx; this piece pays homage to friends, family members, and strangers, as well as to the bedrooms, rooftops, waterfronts, and streetscapes that raised me. Constructed as a video journal and accompanied by diegetic soundscapes of the Bronx and audio clipped from a conversation between me and my peers in which we discuss our present  lives and the future, this moving time capsule marks the end of one part of my life as I look forward to a new chapter, post-graduation.
