Tai Hirayama
When I was six, while the other boys played soccer, I was put into ballet school.
“I Do It For You” draws from my personal history and reconciliation with contemporary masculinity.
I know desperation, alongside fear, alongside anger and so do you.
Dancing in harmony amid the violence.
Taking care.
Tai Hirayama (b. Tokyo, Japan) is a photographer focused on capturing the tender spaces that are often lost between mundanity and chaos.
Poem excerpted from “In A Dream I Watch UFC With You” (2022) by Kaylee Young-Eun Jeong
