Tess Flammia
In “Spatial Foundation,” I document my familiar environments, specifically my childhood home and my
grandparents’ home in Massachusetts, along with my parents’ new home in Florida. Comprising 35mm black-and-white analog images, this body of work explores the ways that these homes have helped me form long-term memories that shape my evolving notions of safety, and the ways these notions grow as I do. As I continue to build this body of work, I ask: Where and with whom does safety live? What defines a space of belonging?
