Tycho Burwell

In this body of work, I document the life of an independent recording artist who is rapidly emerging from the underground into more mainstream success. I employ several modes of image making—straddling the line between commercial and documentary practice to describe the pressure of this life shift, depicting  the isolation of a young celebrity on the rise and the pressure of navigating the industry’s needs. My images ask: What happens when one is caught in the maelstrom of fame?

Tycho Burwell is a visual artist born and based in New York who creates both still and time-based media; he directs and produces music videos, visual album rollouts, and album covers.
