Amanda Keali’i

Unhinged is a photographic exploration of the chaotic, funny, and often heartbreaking reality of digital dating in New York. Using a Hinge profile to collect stories, Keali’i asked people to share their most interesting or worst dates. The resulting series uses silhouetted portraiture, layered collage, and integrated text to reflect the emotional complexity and absurdity of searching for connection. Each image becomes a “story cover” for a stranger’s misadventure, inviting viewers to see themselves in the experience. Unhinged transforms fleeting interactions into visual narratives that celebrate the human desire to connect, even when it goes wildly off course.
