Angela Valeria Navarrete Ferrari

Las Niñas de Alfredo de Musset is a short documentary film that unearths the brutality and beauty of girlhood in Mexico-its tenderness and rage, its inherited silences and acts of rebellion. Through intimate interviews and quiet observations, Valeria bears witness to the lives of the women and girls who raised her. In a country shaped by machismo, impunity, and survival, the film becomes both a protest and a love letter-an act of preservation, testimony, and resistance.

Valeria is a Mexican filmmaker and photographer based in New York. Her work explores the complex truths of girlhood and resistance in Mexico by documenting and witnessing the lived experiences of the women and girls who shaped her.
