Celeste Romero
The documentary captures seven months of filming Jeniah, a teenage girl navigating self-discovery and perceived womanhood. This ongoing film shows her at school with friends, at home, and out with her older cousin, highlighting the challenges of growing up. To recreate her room, the installation includes a rug on the floor, a tall dresser flush to the wall, and on it, a TV. Jeniah’s belongings surround the area—clothes in the dresser, perfume bottles, and wall decor. Through this project, Romero reflects on their own teenage years while giving Jeniah space to talk about things she can’t share with her parents.
