Emma Beuthin
To Hold Onto marks the beginning of a lifelong project in which Beuthin documents the lives of her and her siblings as they transition from childhood to adulthood, capturing how these changes will inevitably affect their relationships. By observing these shifts through an objective lens, Beuthin seeks to rediscover her siblings as individuals, treating them as people she is only now getting to know. As seen in the grid, the presence and absence of portraits highlight the growth that happens between their encounters, forever freezing these moments in time, preserving who they were for who they’re becoming.
Emma Beuthin (b. Los Angeles, CA) is a photographer drawn to portrait and tableau-style imagery, often inspired by everyday life and interested in capturing the beauty in fleeting, often unnoticed scenes.
