To Grasp Sand is a multimedia collection grounded in that question so inextricably tied to photography: “What of memory?” Sequential transparent photos are stacked on top of each other in light boxes, the forms and actions blurring into a single moment. Projected on the wall is a videographic window into an environment of uncanny figures, jarringly acting out remnants of almost forgotten memories. Chaos degrades as memories fail, no technical or photographic process is sufficient to bolster the moment as it flees. To Grasp Sand encapsulates the modern era of photography, a stronghold built on memory, its foundation abstracting into nothingness.
