In Detachment, Hansel delves into the lived experience of disability, using film to create a physical space that mirrors the complexities of the emotional and mental journey it entails. Inspired by a dream, Hansel discovered a profound connection between feelings of isolation and the internal battles faced by individuals with disabilities. The story follows a mysterious figure who meets three characters, each contributing to the protagonist’s understanding of their psychological plight. Through this work, the artist aims to shed light on the many mental states and challenges of living with a disability, expressing these experiences through a symbolic journey.
