Katherine (Jiahao) Ma

Katherine Ma’s work is a quiet gesture-part dream, part residue. She collects fragments: faces half-remembered, moments that never fully arrive, images that tremble at the edge of disappearance. Her process is instinctive, almost ritualistic. In her works, portraits collapse and reassemble through inverted black-and-white negatives and collaging. Eliza appears as a vessel drifting through folds of memory. Time folds inward. The photograph breathes, then fades. This is not a story, but a pause. What lingers is absence, a delicate ache. Her images do not speak. They listen. They wait. They remember what the body forgets.

Katherine Ma is a freelance photographer based in NYC. Her work explores themes of contemporary femininity and emotional interiority.
