Laura Guglielmelli
Myrna is a documentary blending color digital and 16mm film to explore Manhattan’s Lower East Side through cinematic stills, storytelling, and archival audio. Weaving together personal histories and collective memory, the film reflects the resilience and evolving identity of the LES, from its immigrant roots to its shifting present. Photographs of the artist’s grandparents and longtime residents ground the narrative, preserving stories that echo the city’s broader history. By pairing documentary realism with cinematic imagery, Guglielmelli aims to capture the essence of the Lower East Side-its past, its present, and the people who continue to shape its character.
