Michele Lee

The video, Trapped, envisions grief, loneliness, and being stuck in a place with no visible exit. Shot at times as security footage, Lee portrays herself in a space devoid of time, day, or light. Cameras placed throughout her home as surveillance devices reinforce the sense of being watched yet unseen, deepening her emotional and physical confinement. With no escape route, and no clear sense of time, she acknowledges that social media personas-curated, filtered, controlled-often mask a deeper experience of isolation, repetition, and a disconnection from reality.

Michele Lee is a Korean American artist, photographer, and filmmaker based in New York. She focuses on video as her medium, but her main medium is photography.
