Nikola Burnett

Something Lies Waiting is a photographic exploration that re-envisions the artist’s reality by layering a “film” over her everyday life and subtly transforming the objects and people around her. The images are inspired by an original fable in which an unknown being presents itself to a young woman. The being whispers, “Something lies dormant on the forest floor.” The moral of this tale reflects Burnett’s own removal from nature, and her desire to live more closely with it. In creating this new world for herself, Burnett moves one step closer to the reality she is destined to inhabit.
