100th Street is the longing for security and a testament to what this current cycle of gentrification in New York feels like. Driven by the frequent need to move, Rodriguez searches for the hidden indications of change. She documents plots of land before they are built upon, catching the moment in between. She questions notions of accessibility and resourcefully moves and photographs through the barriers. Select images from the project are wheat-pasted on plywood, in a process reminiscent of construction walls.

Stephanie Rodriguez is a Dominican-American photographer from and based in New York City. Her work centers around themes of displacement, diaspora, and the search for solace.
