Sydney Roberts
The Earth Remembers, Echoes of Eroded Humanity explores the tension between human existence and the forces of nature. The project serves as a love letter to the artist’s anticipated demise, brought about by human activity and the disruption of Earth’s systems. In this work, Roberts blends self-portraiture, landscape photography, and satellite imagery to reflect the cycles of life and death. Using their body as a gendered and racialized vessel, Roberts confronts and critiques whiteness-as a vector of white supremacy-and its central role in environmental collapse. This series is an ode to being consumed by nature, recognizing that nature can only thrive without human control.
Sydney Roberts is a photographer based in New York City whose work investigates themes around the environmental crisis.
