Zach Wassef

when i look to the sky, my eyes begin to callus is an image and sound-based investigation into human dominance over the natural world. The project navigates historical, cultural, and ecological erasures in the landscape-erasures enforced for personal and capital gain. Through photography, Wassef searches for visual subtleties, weaving details into the composition that shift each image’s internal logic. Surveying the human hand in nature and the ghostly fragments it leaves behind, the project reveals the link between the desire for control and diminishing human rights.

Zach Wassef is an image and sound-based artist from the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex who explores boundaries, traces, the notion of will, and disappearance in their work.
