Henry Whitford

SLOCAR is a long-term documentary series centered around the New York City graffiti writer SLOCAR. More than a traditional portrait, the project focuses on unpacking the process of making and how that process shapes an artist’s sense of self. The work exposes the complexities of an individual consumed by an artistic obsession that controls every aspect of their life, and the conflicts that arise when one attempts to hold on to the stability of a domestic “normal” life.

Henry Whitford is an artist whose photographic practice is guided by an obsession with the ephemeral and how the accumulation of fleeting moments etches out a cohesive story from beginning to end.
