Liia Suprunenko

24.02 explores the loss of personal sanctuary brought on by experiences of statelessness and conflict, as well as by the overwhelming need for the reconstruction of home. Rooted in the artist’s Ukrainian identity, the series reflects on private history, cultural heritage, and the unstable social and political landscape of her homeland.

Photographed between Kyiv and New York, the images interweave personal diasporic experience with the collective national narrative. Capturing shared emotions of grief and uncertainty, the work not only aims to trace how displacement shapes the understanding of home, but also how it irrevocably alters an underlying sense of self. 

Liia Suprunenko is a multidisciplinary artist from Kyiv, Ukraine whose practice spans photography, video, and sculpture. Suprunenko’s work draws on her cultural and familial heritage, the political landscape, and her identity.
