Rowan Bruce

Held, Until It Isn’t is a photographic and material investigation into fragility, failure, and the illusion of stability. Through images of semi-abandoned industrial forms—torn fences, displaced tarpaulins, collapsing structures—the work focuses on moments where systems of protection begin to give way.  These encounters reflect personal experiences of loss and instability: the feeling of being “held, until one isn’t.”

Engaging ideas of entropy, phenomenology, and entanglement, the project locates a sense of quiet poetics within disorder and transformation. By recontextualizing these broken and abandoned structures, viewers are invited to reconsider neglect not as an endpoint, but as  a generative space for new meanings, relationships, and forms of perception.
