Dylan Anderson

By definition,”vicinity” means the area near or surrounding a particular place. These photographs were made in different cities, climates, and times of year, yet are operating in the same “particular place.” “Warm Vicinity” is an ongoing project depicting a range of intimate connections. Through meticulous use of formal photographic elements such as line, light, and color, I illustrate my own relationships, accompanied by those that others have with the spaces and people around them. In bringing together things we see and encounter everyday and by arranging them on printed paper, different vicinities are revealed within individual images, from image to image, and between the viewer and the photographs.

Dylan Anderson is a New York City-lens-based artist who primarily makes analog photographs. His work explores notions of connection through overlooked vignettes of the everyday.
