Sabrina Slavin
I live to exist in photographs, and therefore, I live to create and recreate myself. Not only that – I live to be consumed by you, validated by you, “liked” by you. “Who am I to you?” is a photo series examining perception, shame, self love, and self hatred. It is about the consequences and affordances of a woman’s existence through photographs, and the expectations and artifice that attends that. My work is the pursuit of owning my own image, and the process of accepting that I exist beyond my image.
Sabrina Slavin is a contemporary artist and photographer. Working primarily in self-portraiture, Slavin’s photographic work is both an exploration of the self and a deconstruction of the roles present in her life.
