Katie Vita

The Universe of Violet is a mixed-media collage with three booklets, including excerpts from scripts titled “Dear Harper,” “Dear Miles,” and “Dear Cherry,” respectively. Posing as Violet in the self-portraits, I inhabit an idealized version of myself who explores passions and relationships different from my own. Encompassing both found and created objects, the collage pieces represent Violet’s memorabilia and her connections to her various love interests. Each booklet details a different adventure  of Violet’s, searching for a narrative that reimagines my life through the conventions of the romance genre.
