What is love to someone who has never experienced it before? <3 is an exploration of romance through the lens of history, clichés, personal experiences and feelings. Through self portraits and still lifes, I reciprocate what I think love feels and looks like in the pages using humor and play to question the notion of romance in media. The book, in turn, documents my dedication in trying to manifest love for myself through all sorts of absurd rituals and seemingly trivial acts. The artist book consists of mixed media pages including screenprints, photolithography prints, cyanotypes, weavings, illustrations, locks of hair and paintings.
