information cocoon

Through my work, I want the viewer to understand we, as a global society, are wrapped in an invisible “information cocoon” and to challenge them to have the courage to break out of it. The different elements in my work represent various aspects of the subject matter that I wish to convey through a fragmented presentation of video, photographs, and text. The inspiration comes primarily from my personal experience: the anxiety of being an international student in a complicated informational environment. Borrowing from the themes of the work, I boldly challenged myself through self-portraiture and stepped out of the cocoon. I also investigate the limitations of “freedom” and “the self.”
