Cariño

Cariño focuses on exploring the personal histories and traumas within my familial dynamics as a queer first-generation American. Identity, domesticity, socioeconomic status, and religion are all themes conveyed throughout my projects. Throughout my photo installation, I unfold my relationship with nostalgia for domesticity in the Bronx and Harlem. From shattered windows, frayed broom sticks and chipping paint, each object and surface are representative of my experiences through a photo poetic approach. I am motivated by the nuances and ephemera of my environment. Making work from this introspective space has allowed me to come to terms and embrace my histories and belonging.
